I'd advise using your birth name to the people you've introduced yourself to so far, but introducing yourself as James from now on! Unless you really anticipate talking to the people you introduced yourself to a lot, in which case it might be better to explain. How many people did you introduce yourself to? And I doubt anything legal can be done against you.

I introduced myself to a few people. And I’ll probably be seeing them A LOT as we all live in the same student accommodation type deal. So I really think I should explain or something. And I know nothing legal can be done but I still freak out a bit for some reason.

  1. ruingaraf said: Yeah, explaining might be best. But to get your courage up, maybe try going to the local coffeeshop, or library, or something as James. It’ll be easier the sooner you do it, too, and explain you’re still closeted to your parents.
